Do you get Brrr, Jubel, Celebration and Ebenezer mixed up? Can’t remember which one you like best?

Doesn’t matter. Most of them change year to year anyway.

Come sample seasonal releases so you know exactly what to bring to parties all season long.

How it works

We drink small glasses of beer – about 2-3 oz. per beer per person

We rate the beers on personal grading sheets.

We snack, discuss, and then try valiantly to polish off the rest of the beer.

There are no prizes – this is not a contest

A day or two afterward, Ayleen tallies the results and shares with everyone in attendance.

What to bring

A seasonal beer or two that no one else has already indicated they are bringing.

A beer people can obtain in the Portland area.

For each beer style, please provide:
1 6-pack
or 2 22oz
or 1 CLEARLY LABELED growler

Snacks.

Kiddos are welcome.

Log your beer

We don’t want a party full of Jubelale (besides, in 2013 that beer scored really low). Please bring this list with you to the bottle shop and try to buy your beer at least a day early. These are merely suggestions, feel free to bring a seasonal beer not on the list.

Tips

  • We will taste in small glasses, so bring enough beer for 15 people to taste it (2 22s, 6pack, growler)
  • Please don’t bring a beer someone else is bringing, that’s just dumb.
  • Please don’t bring non-seasonals, that’s a different party that I’m not hosting.
  • Most groceries have a very limited selection of interesting seasonals. Consider bottle shops like Beer Mongers, Belmont Station, Saraveza. That being said, it’s still cool to have the old standbys like Jubelale, Brrr, Celebration and Ebenezer.
  • You don’t have to sample all the beers, but if you do, you are granted Bragging Rights for a year. It is a very prestigious honor.
  • It’s important to follow the quantity guidelines (above under “What to Bring”). We drink very small quantities of each beer, but we need enough to go around. If people can’t sample a beer, they get grouchy because it ruins their opportunity for Bragging Rights.
